Metropolis

July 17, 2008 by Kenny Eliason Leave a Comment

This movie definitely made some great advances with technology and special effects. The prior films we have watched were very plain on both of those topics. With Chaplin and Keaton, the camera was usually set in front of a scene and the rest was left to the actors. In metropolis there were lots of different types of special effects. It was weird to see how much could actually be done on a film without any dialogue. The story was pretty easy to follow as well.

I guess you could say that the movies are progressively getting better and better. Although this was not my favorite movie, it was the most like any movie you see in the theaters today. It had action and suspense, some scary parts and even some scandalous parts. The storyline was a little different than I’m used to, but it wasn’t too bad. It had a regular set of characters, a bit of a love story and some crazy technological parts.
